You are unable to provide the information required for your 2019 tax return

Many people are used to submitting their details to their tax adviser around this time of year so that their income tax return can be prepared. Unfortunately, due to the situation surrounding the coronavirus, this is not possible at the moment.

Deadline

The deadline for submitting your 2019 income tax return is 1 May 2020 (This deadline applies only if you have received a notice from the tax authorities inviting you to file a tax return).

Only when you’re sure before 1 July 2020 If you want your tax refund to be paid into your bank account, you must submit your tax return before 1 April 2020.

Postponement

Tax advisers may ask the Tax and Customs Administration for an extension to the deadline for submitting their clients’ tax returns. The 2019 tax return must then by 1 May 2021 at the latest received by the Tax and Customs Administration. PLEASE NOTE: in certain cases, an earlier submission deadline applies.

If you do not have a tax adviser complete your tax return for you, you can do it yourself via the tax return portal on the website ask the Tax and Customs Administration for an extension. This extension is generally granted by the Tax and Customs Administration without further enquiry until 1 September 2020.

Digital submission

If your tax return does need to be filed at short notice – for example, to receive your refund quickly – you can, of course, send us the necessary details electronically (for example, by email). In these times of minimising physical contact, submitting information electronically is the preferred option in any case.

Perhaps we could make do with the data from the VIA (the pre-filled tax return), supplemented where necessary with any information not included in it.

You have received an authorisation form from the Tax and Customs Administration for your VIA details. This form contains a QR code, which gives us access to your VIA details. Please send us a clear scan or photo of the authorisation form and we can get started on your behalf.

Feel free to ring us!

If none of the above works, please contact your account manager by telephone. Together, we’re sure to find a suitable solution.
