Under the Sustainable Energy Investment Grant (ISDE), businesses and private individuals can receive a grant towards the purchase of heat pumps, biomass boilers, wood-burning stoves and solar water heaters.
Renewable energy
The government wants to encourage a shift away from using natural gas to heat homes and commercial premises, towards the use of more renewable energy. This will save energy and reduce CO₂ emissions.
Investment grant
The ISDE is an investment grant. This means that you must invest in a device that is eligible for the grant, and that the government will then contribute towards the cost of that investment. The amount of the grant depends on the type of equipment you purchase. You can find the exact amounts for each item of equipment in the equipment lists:

You can apply for the ISDE at the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) From 4 January 2016 to 31 December 2016 (17:00). Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received. The budget for 2016 is €70 million. The scheme is a multi-year scheme running from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2020. The budget is set anew for each year.
Once you have received notification from the RVO that the grant you applied for will not be paid out due to the budget being exhausted, you have 12 months in which to resubmit your application. You will then be eligible for the following year’s grant budget.

Business applicants may only enter into the purchase agreement for the equipment once the grant application has been approved by RVO. The equipment must then be put into use within 12 months. Once the equipment has been put into service, a request must be made to RVO for the grant to be finalised. The equipment must not be removed within one year of the date on which the grant is finalised. It is possible to request an advance on the grant.
Private applicants apply for the grant once the appliance has been installed and is in use. Even then, the appliance must not be removed for a period of 12 months.
