The Ministry of Intrastructure and Water Management has launched the Zero Emission Commercial Vehicles Subsidy Scheme in internet consultation given. An amount of €22 million will be put into the subsidy pot for 2021 (once this pot is empty, subsidy provision will stop). The scheme will run until 2025.
Grant
The subsidy amounts to 10% of the van's net list price. Maximum subsidy per van is €5,000. The subsidy will be granted to an applicant for up to 300 vans in a calendar year.
The net list price of the van must be at least €20,000 (environmental investment deductions can be claimed up to this amount). Furthermore, the battery pack must not contain lead and the car's range must be at least 100 km.
The net list price is the list price of the van minus the VAT included therein.
The van must be new and emission-free. This means that the van is exclusively electrically powered. The subsidy scheme covers vans in class and N1 and N2 (up to 4,250 kg.).
For entrepreneurs with a van in Euro class 4, another backstop has yet to be devised.
Entrepreneurs and non-profit
The subsidy scheme applies to entrepreneurs and non-profit organisations based in the Netherlands. Consideration is given to registration with the Chamber of Commerce.
Public bodies are not eligible for the grant.
Property requirement
The van, for which the subsidy is received, must be new and registered in the name of the applicant This registration must be maintained continuously for 3 years (except where the car is replaced within this period by a van that also qualifies for the subsidy and the subsidy is not applied for the replacement van).
The subsidy can also be obtained for vans obtained on financial lease. Only the entrepreneur leasing the van is eligible for the subsidy (as the leasing company does not have the registration number in its name).
With operational leasing, only the leasing company is eligible for the subsidy.
