Additional income for student employee

Under the student loan scheme, students at universities and universities of applied sciences are allowed to earn an unlimited amount of additional income. It has recently become clear that this also applies to vocational education (MBO).

No check on additional income

Following the introduction of the Act on the Reintroduction of the Higher Education Basic Grant With effect from 1 January 2024, the limit on additional earnings for students in vocational education (MBO) will be abolished. In 2022 and 2023, the Education Implementation Service (DUO) no longer takes additional earnings into account. The Senate confirmed this on 6 June 2023. This means that, during these years, any additional earnings by MBO students will not affect their student finance.
