My Tax and Customs Administration – Business

Since 3 January 2019, sole traders (entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals) have been able to use ‘Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk’ for VAT purposes. The final VAT return for 2018 can already be submitted via ‘Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk’.

Portal

This new portal will replace the current business portal in the course of 2019. Business owners will then be able to use the business portal to prepare and submit their VAT, payroll tax, income tax and corporation tax returns. With very few exceptions, all these returns must be submitted digitally to the Tax and Customs Administration.

VWG

VWG does not currently use the business portal. Nor will we be using ‘Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk’ in the future. We submit all the tax returns we prepare for our clients using specialised software. If you choose to have our firm handle everything for you, access to the portals is not necessary for the time being. Should the portal be expanded to include more information in the future, it may well become of interest. However, the intention is that we should be able to access that information directly via a portal specifically designed for intermediaries.

My Tax Office

We have known for several years My Tax Office. This is the web portal that individuals use to complete and submit their income tax returns to the Tax and Customs Administration. Individuals access this portal using their DigiD. Business owners cannot use ‘Mijn Belastingdienst’, not even for their income tax returns.

My Tax and Customs Administration – Business

You can find ‘My Tax and Customs Administration for Businesses’ on the Tax and Customs Administration’s website: www.belastingdienst.nl. At the top right of the homepage, you’ll find the button log in. Next, select For business owners. After that, you can choose between the old and the new portal.

Sole traders and self-employed individuals can access ‘Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk’ using their DigiD. Other business owners will be granted access via E-herkenning in due course.

Naturally, the new ‘Mijn Belastingdienst Zakelijk’ portal is an improvement on the old business portal. It is more user-friendly and works better on tablets and smartphones. Submitted VAT returns and ICP declarations can now be viewed (which was not possible before). And whereas in the old portal the return had to be completed in full in one go, in the new portal the return can be saved at any stage.
