In our article Deduction for listed buildings abolished we informed you of the abolition of the tax monument deduction from 1 January 2017. In the article Monument properties after 2016 we described the temporary subsidy scheme that would apply for the years 2017 and 2018 instead of the monument deduction.

On 9 November 2016, Minister Bussemaker of Education, Culture and Science reveals in a letter to the House know that the abolition of the deduction will not go ahead. It asks the House to postpone consideration of the bill, allowing the tax deduction to remain valid at least in 2017 (but probably also in 2018). This is because in 2018, the already announced evaluation of the SIM (Subsidy Scheme for the Preservation of Monuments) will take place and as a result, a new scheme may be introduced for all national monuments starting in 2019.

The abolition of the training deduction will also not go ahead for now as a result of the bill being held up.
