No spam or phishing
The Tax and Customs Administration is doing this because business owners are, of course, wary of the fake letters used by fraudsters to try to swindle money out of unsuspecting business owners, who may consequently fail to pay the motor vehicle tax they owe. Until the end of 2022, the Tax and Customs Administration will be sending out letters from both the new and the old systems.
The Tax and Customs Administration states that the sender of the letters is: Central Administrative Processes, Vehicle Taxation Department or Central administrative processes, Collection Cluster. And it is very important to note that the Tax and Customs Administration’s bank account number has not changed: NL86INGB0002445588.
Payment slip
The new letters will not include a payment slip, but will contain payment details instead. This is, of course, because the payment slip is being phased out as of 1 June 2023. Information on how to pay without a payment slip can be found on the website of the Inland Revenue.
