Retrieved from 1 July 2025 the statutory minimum hourly wage increases by 2,42%. For employees of 21 years and over this means a new gross amount of €14.40 per hour.
Hourly wage as new norm
Since the introduction of the Act introducing minimum hourly wage on 1 January 2024, hourly wages will be the legal starting point. Minimum amounts per day, week or month have been dropped. This provides more clarity, but also requires attention when processing wages.
You are obliged to minimum legal hourly wage to be paid regardless of the number of hours worked per week.
Young people and BBL apprentices
For workers under 21, a percentage of the adult minimum wage applies. Separate, lower percentages are set for BBL workers.

What can you do as an employer?
- Check whether your wages meet the new hourly rates
- Adjust contracts or payroll where necessary
- Keep in mind adjusted collective bargaining agreements
