The Tour for Life: cycling from Italy to Rotterdam in 8 days (1,400 km) – a dream come true for any cycling enthusiast. But the Tour for Life is so much more than that!
Raising money for cancer treatment research
Tour for Life is widely acclaimed as the most beautiful and impressive stage race. The eighth edition took place from 28 August to 4 September 2016. However, cycling is not the primary aim; that is, in fact, to raise money for the Daniel den Hoed Foundation. The aim of this foundation is to raise funds for the Erasmus MC Cancer Institute. More specifically, it supports research into personalised cancer therapy.
Allard van Leur
Our colleague Allard van Leur took part in Tour for Life with his team (The Cycling Academy) – and we can now say it was a great success! Through his participation, Allard raised over €5,000 for charity – well done! Allard’s team raised a total of €38,000, and the total for the entire campaign currently stands at €856,000. As well as offering moral support, VWGNijhof has, of course, also contributed financially; we are always keen to support initiatives like this.
