25 years ago, Robert Estourgie and Karel van der Voort knocked on the door of accountancy firm Van Wijk and Geurts in Nijmegen. At the time, the accountancy firm had no tax department and Robert was a good acquaintance of founder Anton van Wijk's son. The idea to continue together soon became reality. Robert and Karel appeared in the office as men with a plan and a lot of self-confidence. With some suspicion, the staff watched Robert and Karel set to work. It soon became clear that they could deliver on their promised growth, the department grew in size and good cooperation between tax advisers and accountants developed. People had great respect for each other and, in addition, they kept each other on their toes. Robert and Karel introduced the relaxed atmosphere to the company that still exists today. We are grateful to Robert and Karel for what they have meant to VWGNijhof and hope we can enjoy them for a long time to come. On 1 December we raised a glass to the past and the future with the Nijmegen office.
