In our article Buy an electric car with a subsidy from 1 July<\/a> We describe the new subsidy scheme for the purchase of electric cars by private individuals. This scheme is so popular that the 2020 budget for new cars was exhausted in no time (although there is still funding available for the purchase of a second-hand electric passenger car).<\/p>\n \u2018No problem,\u2019 you might say. Applications submitted after the budget has been exhausted are carried over to the new year. To prevent the new year\u2019s budget from being exhausted straight away as a result, this arrangement is being amended.<\/p>\n Applications submitted after the budget has been exhausted will no longer be processed. These applications will be rejected. You can find this change in the Official Gazette<\/a>. The change comes into effect on 30 October 2020.<\/p>\n In addition, it is stipulated that a year\u2019s budget may only be used for purchase or lease agreements signed in that year. For example, a purchase made in November of a given year is not eligible for a grant in the following year.<\/p>\n It goes without saying that there are currently a lot of applications being submitted at the start of the new year. However, you don\u2019t have to sacrifice your New Year\u2019s Day to do so. Applications for the grant can no longer be submitted from 1 January, but only from the first working day of the year (for 2021, therefore, the first day is 4 January).
