This question is at the heart of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kifid.nl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Uitspraak-2022-0654-Bindend.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">case<\/a> In which the Kifid ruled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Death benefit insurance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Term life insurance provides for the payment of a capital sum if the insured body dies during the policy term. Who is entitled to the insurance benefit, the beneficiaries, must of course be clear from the insurance policy. In the case assessed by the Kifid, as is often the case, the policyholder's heirs are the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Testament<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the policyholder has made a will, that should show who his heirs are. These are, as evidenced by a certificate of inheritance drawn up by a notary, his wife and his 2 children. Nevertheless, the wife asks the insurer to pay the entire benefit to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The will contains what is known as a two-step disposition. This means that (1) the wife inherits the entire estate under the resolutive condition of (among other things) her death and (2) the children inherit under the condition precedent of their mother's death.
