{"id":1207,"date":"2022-04-15T10:28:26","date_gmt":"2022-04-15T08:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/vwg.nl\/uncategorized\/afscherming-adres-in-handelsregister-meer-mogelijkheden\/"},"modified":"2026-03-03T10:34:14","modified_gmt":"2026-03-03T09:34:14","slug":"hiding-an-address-in-the-commercial-register-more-options","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/vwg.nl\/en\/afscherming-adres-in-handelsregister-meer-mogelijkheden\/","title":{"rendered":"Hiding an address in the Commercial Register: more options!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On 12 April 2022, the Chamber of Commerce published a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kvk.nl\/over-kvk\/media-en-pers\/nieuws-en-persberichten\/--kvk-meer-mogelijkheden-voor-afscherming-in-handelsregister\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article<\/a> A publication has been released from which it can be inferred that the options for concealing addresses in the commercial register are being expanded. The reason for this expansion is said to be concerns about privacy and security.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Current policy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For many years, entrepreneurs\u2019 business addresses and home addresses were visible in the commercial register. Since the start of this year, the Chamber of Commerce has implemented a change, meaning that only business addresses are now visible. For many entrepreneurs, their business address is the same as their home address, meaning that their home address is still visible in the register. This could compromise the privacy and security of entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>New policy<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In anticipation of new legislation, the Chamber of Commerce has expanded the options for concealing addresses in the Commercial Register. The Chamber of Commerce now conceals addresses in the register upon request when business owners are threatened or when they feel threatened. Previously, a business owner had to provide a police report to prove that they were being threatened. This is no longer necessary. As soon as a business owner submits a request, their address is immediately concealed. The Chamber of Commerce will then work with the business owner concerned to find a long-term solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Unfortunately, this amendment applies only to sole traders, general partnerships (VOF), limited partnerships (CV), professional partnerships, associations or foundations. Due to European legislation, it does not apply to private limited companies (BV) and public limited companies (NV).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Protection of personal data<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The protection of personal data has been a topic of debate for some time now. This debate also extends to the UBO register. There are doubts about the legal validity of the register, particularly with regard to its public nature.
